Are We..?

In day-to-day life, we encounter numerous situations, observe numerous behaviours and gather numerous experiences. These experiences form the basis for our behaviour or responses towards the events happening around us.

We also carry some assumptions (or truths as most of us might believe them to be) along with us, all the time at all the places we go. Some of these historical responses help us decide our behaviours. Based on our awareness and willingness to change, we analyse and reform our thoughts and try to formulate the 'right' responses.

This happens with most of us, we may realise it or not. You can feel it when you are facing a totally new or never-before situation. Just try to analyse how do you respond in these circumstances.

I can feel, it takes a lot of our mind and energy in doing so. Life then, is a conscious OLTP.. :D; i mean a conscious attempt to live the experiences we face. This could certainly lead to a content life and off course could teach us the right way to live it or the right way to change our self to live it.

If you ponder, the life of a common middle class family in India has changed drastically over last few decades. (I am from a common middle class Indian family, so will talk with that context)
The life our grandfathers went through, the life our parents lived.. there professions, the environments they worked in.. the economics are way different!

Today, we live closer to the social and economic problems of our country, of the world.
Unlike to the old days, the events in one part of the world affect us here. We feel the heat and threat of social unsecurity.
Today, we never know which part of the world your friend might be working/living next year, or next month may be ;).

We actually SEE the world beyond the horizon we might have thought as a member of our family. And, we continue to grow in this way.

Consider the speed of change. Looking at the history, from last couple of decades, every five years were drastically different from the previous five. (Those amongst us who trade in stocks could resonate with this, at least by theory ;))

What does that mean to us?

Do we live in a time when we are, knowingly or unknowingly, writing whole new paths/ways?
If yes, how seriously aware are we about this?
And, how are we ensuring it is going to be the right way, and not sleep-walking through it?

Right ot not ,we have got to tread this path...thats what they call samay ke sath chalna :) ..me too pondered on similar lines..one observation you forgot to mention, its marriage of our generation that is being delayed like anything compared to our forefathers` ;)

ya, I usually think upon this topic, but then there is hardly any topic on which I don't! :)
Jokes apart, but, I don't agree wid u completely. I mean, I agree that the world and everything in it has changed and is changing very rapidly. and we (our generation) being a part of it, I always feel that we are some great thing.
But then, when I think of our parents, or even people who are 10-15 years elder than us, I feel that they might have felt the same way... in fact now also, they might be feeling that their generation has done and is still doing a great job in writing history of the world...
I don't know if I am right or wrong, but I seriously feel that each one of us (may he/she be from any generation) considers him/herself a very important part of the system. Look at your father; he would react to anything as if his reaction would change the country's economy policy. My grandfather would react to issues of pubs, GFs like on his reaction, the future of whole youth is dependent...
do you remember that story of a king? He came back home from a war, winning. He was very happy that he had defeated his neighbor enemy king. But he was welcomed by widows of his soldiers, their aged fathers, orphan sons... The king decides to quit wedging wars and will live peacefully. HE decides that he would construct a monument as a memory of his decision & appeal to live peacefully. But When he starts digging earth for basement of his piller, he finds remains of another pillar, established by predecessor king, in memory of his decision to live peacefully and an appeal to avoid wars...
All I want to say is, I really think that history repeats and we are very small part of it. I get very tired searching for answers of my questions about life and ultimately, I seek refuge in life itself!
ya, the life is very big, if you don't know some answers in spite of trying for them, then you are not supposed to know them. that's it!!
so my friend, all we can do, is live happily!!! Enjoy everything that comes to you...
It's your life, Live it to the fullest...

Thanks apoorv and mohit for the comments.
Mohit, I remembered exactly the same story which you pointed out here, while writing this! It was a Marathi lesson in 9th class i guess, "Vijaystambh" by V. S. Khandekar. but that was a roopakkatha, showing the kings pride for himself, he being the first and the only to do so and the rest as you mentioned.
I guess the composition of the post has become little diverting, let me put myself little more clearly: I am tryin to emphasize importance of Time and not ourselves. Whenever there have been major changes in the history, they were forced by a large population of citizens recognising and fulfilling the need of the hour. It is the ease with which changes, reforms are happening; that i am talking about. Its our enabling of doing much more things than usual that I wanted to talk about. And above all its a question to you, to all of us - how are we treading our paths? are we considering all that is possible with open heart or letting small aims blind us from the potential of the opportunities?
